Obligations of the German Soldier

Article 1. The German Armed Forces bear the arms of the German people. It protects the German Kingdom and Fatherland and the people and their lands that embody National Socialism. The roots of their strength lay within a diverse past of the German peoples, German soil, and German labor. Service within the German Armed Forces is an honorary service to the German peoples.

Article 2. A soldier's honor is based on unconditional personal service to the people and the Fatherland unto the sacrifice of life.

Article 3. A soldier's highest form of service is courage in battle. It requires strength and determination. Cowardice is reprimanded. Dereliction is not soldierly.

Article 4. Obedience is the foundation of the Armed Forces. Trust is the foundation of obedience. The leadership of soldiers is based on the blissful acceptance of responsibilities, superior abilities and providing unwavering welfare. Article 5. Great achievements in war and peace are only possible through an unshakeable fighting harmony between the leadership and troops.

Article 6. Fighting harmony requires comradery that is especially valuable during threatening and dangerous situations.

Article 7. Self-conscience and determined, honorable and loyal, God-fearing and honest, humble and are a soldier's attributes and the entire people's paradigm for masculine strength. Only accomplishments sanction pride.

Article 8. A soldier shall find the greatest cerebral reward and luck when fulfilling his obligation. Character and achievements determine his worth and direction.
